Xcaret highlights Mexican traditions
The Life and Death Traditions Festival was held successfully, with all forms of art cherishing the Day of the Dead
The 4th edition of the Life and Death Traditions Festival was carried out at Xcaret over four days with over a dozen cultural events such as theater, dancing, conferences, audiovisual projections, and many other activities.
As a way of cherishing and highlighting the large variety of Day of the Dead traditions all across Mexico, Xcaret eco-park, brings together every year artists from all over the country and organizes a special celebration with skeletons, offerings, shrines and color.
Xcaret is known not only for its amazing underground river, Mayan ruins and wildlife, but also for its traditional Mayan village, which includes a cemetery, and auditoriums with shows, perfect for staging something of this scope.
Among the attractions were a theater presentation with dancers, stilts, and lavish skeleton costumes for a Day of the Dead extravaganza, the folkloric dances accompanied by regional music, the premiere of the symphone "The Dance of the Souls," conferences on the different traditions and their history, a photography contest, special Day of the Dead trails, and a tasting of regional food.
Children also had a blast during the festival, thanks to the facepainting workshops, the music pavilion, and of course, all the usual attractions that have made Xcaret famous.
