Designed by the legendary Greg Norman, El Camaleon is located just 45 minutes south of Cancun in the heart of the Mayan Riviera. The 7000 yard course is the centerpiece of the luxury resort development Mayakoba.

As its name suggests, El Camaleon (The Chameleon) is very changing, bending through three distinct landscapes: dense jungle, mangrove forests, and stunning oceanfront stretches of sand. Norman has also made the layout to bisect with massive, limestone canals and incorporated a cenote, an ancient underground river cavern, in the center of the opening fairways.

El Camaleón is a major league test, a real Shark bite. However, each hole is sprinkled with a minimum of four tee blocks, so there is a distance for players of every skill level.

While the course is a standout, the surrounding golf amenities are equally as impressive. The contemporary, copper-topped clubhouse is a full-service facility that rises above the 18th green. A fully stocked golf shop with all the latest in fashion, logo wear and equipment has something to offer for everyone. On its upper floor overlooking the course is a superb, Argentinean steak house. The adjoining practice facilities are among the best in Mexico and include a double-ended, 350 – yard driving range, a 20,000 sq. ft. short game area with putting and chipping greens.

Diseñado por el legendario Greg Norman, El Camaleon está ubicado a sólo 45 minutos al sur de Cancún, en el corazón de la Riviera Maya. Este campo de 18 hoyos es el foco central del lujoso desarrollo de Mayakobá.

El Camaleón es así llamado por su inesperado y dramático cambio de paisaje, siempre en total armonía con la naturaleza de la región. El territorio se estrecha perfectamente entre la exótica jungla, impresionantes cenotes, densos manglares, estrechos de arena, hoyos aledaños a canales de piedra caliza y la inigualable belleza del colorido Caribe Mexicano. Incluso cuenta con un imponente cenote que fue descubierto durante la etapa inicial de construcción.

El Camaleon es todo un desafío, con muchos hoyos diseñados para ser interesantes hasta para los más expertos. Sin embargo, cada hoyo cuenta con un mínimo de cuatro salidas, para darle la distancia adecuada para cada tipo de jugador.

Aunque el campo en sí es, desde luego, la atracción principal, las amenidades ofrecidas en El Camaleon son igual de impresionantes. Una casa club de estilo contemporáneo se yergue junto al green del 18. También se cuenta con una tienda de golf con lo último en la moda y equipo para todos. En la planta superior, con una vista soberbia, hay una churrasquería argentina. Las instalaciones de práctica son una de las mejores de México e incluyen un campo de tiro y un enorme área para potear.
