The ecological park Kantun Cenotes Chi provided water to the ancient Maya and wildlife of the area. The Mayans believed cenotes could purify the souls and before entering either a cenote to collect water for drinking or bathing, the Maya performed a ceremony to ask permission to the water god, Chac and aluxes. Kantun Chi is located at km. 266.5 of the federal highway Chetumal-Cancun, is 100 kms. the city of Cancun, 22 km from Playa del Carmen and 2 kms.

Puerto Aventuras in the wonderful state of Quintana Roo, Mexico, just 200 meters from the hotel Barceló Maya.
