The magnificent Ake
The archaeological site of Ake is located in the municipality of Tixkokob in the state of Yucatan, Mexico, 36 miles east - southeast of the city of Merida. Ake is surrounded by two concentric walls.

The archaeological site of Ake is located in the municipality of Tixkokob in the state of Yucatan, Mexico, 36 miles east - southeast of the city of Merida. Ake is surrounded by two concentric walls. The first, of rectangular shape, is located around the nucleus of the site has an area of approximately 4 km ², the second, it would have been around the city.
There is a structure called the palace that is formed at its top by rows of stone columns resting on a square that is accessed by a wide rescalera and narrow stairs.
One of the features of the site is the vestige of a linking Sacbé this site with the city of Izamal to 40 km away, where you can also see another portion of the Mayan route. This sacbé was part of a network of roads built by the Maya linking the main cities of the Yucatan Peninsula and allowing travel great distances from the sites of the interior of the peninsula to the main ports or salt-producing centers.
